London Food Recommendations

London is rapidly becoming a food capital you may remember when it used to be considered the blandest most basic food but so many cultures have started opening shops that make London a must-visit spot for foodies!

Even though there are lots of foods that are not necessarily English there are some English meals and treats I think you have to try while there! Here is that list!

Fish and Chips

Cornish Pasties or Pies

Clotted Cream

Scones

Here are some of the best restaurant spots we found, and I would recommend!

Breakfast

Coppa Club Igloo

This restaurant offers dining right on the Tames and in the winter, they have their igloos set up so you can sit in a nice cozy spot while watching the river and enjoying amazing food!

Farm Girl

This is a very well-known place in Knotting Hill and if you are heading there for a shopping day I highly recommend heading there early so grab some brunch here!

Buns From Home

This spot is not a sit-down restaurant but offers cinnamon rolls in multiple flavors and some that are filled! We went here multiple times during our time in London and it never disappointed!

Duck and Waffle

This restaurant is a chain that we ended up going to in Edinburgh, but they also have a location in London and the food here was amazing! The waffles were so good! And the duck benedict was so flavorful!

Lunch/ Dinner

Ippudo Ramen (SOHO)

This is a chain we visited in Japan and when we found out they had one in London we had to go! There ramen is so good and the noodles are always perfect!

Pho Soho

This was a great spot to stop in for a bowl of pho and warm up! Very flavorful and the calamari was amazing! Would go back just for those in the future!

Padella

This is an Italian restaurant that is very well known and there’s a reason! They offer new pasta daily and it’s all handmade!

Nandos

This is one of my favorite spots to go to when in England! They offer peri peri chicken which is a Portuguese chicken that comes in varying spice levels. The chicken comes in full pieces and I highly recommend getting at least one order per person. Also, make sure to get some fries as well they are amazing in the chicken sauce and dipped in peri peri!

Jacuzzi

This is part of a chain called Big Mama in the UK. They also have other chains that are located throughout Europe. This is more of a splurge meal, but it is so worth it for both the food and the décor! For the meal, my family decided to eat family style, so we ordered one or two items of each course. I highly recommend the truffle pasta and you must save room for the tiramisu at the end!

Ye olde Chester Cheese

This is a popular pub to frequent and also offers a Sunday roast and like most pubs you can also get some other pub foods.

Dishoom

This is an Indian restaurant that can be found in London and Edinburgh and the line is always long so I recommend making a reservation or showing up a bit before you know you’ll be hungry. The food here was all amazing we got many different dishes and ended up splitting amongst ourselves. I recommend getting multiple orders of naan if you like to eat that with your meal because you will run out quickly. There roti is also very good, and honestly, everything on the menu looked delicious!

Here are the best desserts we found that I can’t wait to go back to!

Chin-Chin

Hot Chocolate as well as ice cream

Dalloway Terrace

This was a spot we went to for afternoon tea and the sandwiches and pastries were amazing! Also if you’re not a big tea person like me you can substitute for coffee instead!

Venchi

Amazing hot chocolate! A chain so you can find it anywhere.

Borough Market

A lot of popular spots can be found in Borough market, here are a few I would recommend going to in the market!

Bread Ahead

Located in the burrow market this spot has everything from donuts to French bread loaves. We ended up going twice to get more sourdough to eat with our jam and the assortment of meats and cheese we picked up in the market. There donuts were also amazing all filled with some rich flavor that was amazing!

Humbl Crumbl

This stop was a family favorite and my sister and mom ended up going there three times in the time we were there! The classic shortbread with the mixed berry compote is mouthwatering and then add the unlimited custard on top it is straight-up addictive! I personally enjoyed the frozen custard on top and thought the frozen with the warm berries was the perfect balance! If you're not big on custard though there are multiple other toppings like the whipped cream which tastes just like clotted cream, Yum!

The Strawberry Booth

This stop I would not say is necessary. The line is often so long that you have to wait for at least an hour to get the strawberries and once you do it just that strawberries with milk chocolate. I personally am more of a fan of dark chocolate so it wasn’t my favorite. Also, their chocolate did not set getting to that crunchy chocolate which I think makes a chocolate strawberry so much better than added crunch.

Monmouth Coffee

This coffee shop always has a long line but in the chilly weather is worth it for a nice warm cup! I will note they only use reusable cups so you will have to pay a 5-pound charge that you will get back once you return your cup when leaving the market.

Ginger Pig

This is a popular spot for sausage rolls. The line is usually long, so I recommend splitting up one person going here and then another heading to the coffee shop across the street. The sausage roll was amazing though and I would recommend trying it while there!

Pieminster

This cart has both warm and cold classic Cornish pies. We ended up getting a chicken and mushroom and chicken bacon and leek pie and they both were amazing! The pie is so flaky and the mix inside was the perfect temperature and flavors! I wish I had more time to go get another one of these before we left!

I hope this guide helps you find fun places to try and add to your itinerary!
