Charleston has been a city I have wanted to visit for a long time, with it being one of the most known cities in the Carolinas I knew it would be the perfect place to see if I would enjoy their beaches! When I was planning a girl's trip to New York but if feel through I knew I had to try to go to Charleston instead.
Charleston did not disappoint! The beaches were beautiful the city was beautiful, and it all felt very quaint but also big city-ish. When going we only had a few full days but we made the most of them, going to lots of highly recommended spots and restaurants. With all that being said I wanted to share the places we went ate and stayed as well as share our itinerary.
Food
Melfis
We ate outside here and it was so nice! Such a pretty location and the food was amazing! We got a margarita pizza and multiple kinds of pasta to share. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything you order here!
Millers All Day
This is a location on the main square that I heard about, the breakfast was amazing and even though there was a bit of a wait there were so many shops to pop into that it was not even an issue! The breakfast was delicious and of course bottomless mimosas!
Byrds cookies
This is not a sit-down place just a cute little shop with tons of mini cookies! There were so many options and samples of them all! We each ended up getting a bag of these cookies they were just so good!
TacoBoy
This spot was located right next to the beach we went to and boy was it the perfect spot after surfing! I don’t know about you by after physical activity or playing in the water I crave Mexican food! This place has so many taco options and some amazing chips and queso! There was indoor and outdoor seating and with the sunny weather, we enjoyed our meal outside!
Leons
Leons is a staple of Charleston and almost every blog I read said you had to go for Oysters! I personally don’t love oysters so I got the smoke Mahi dip and crispy shrimp roll and both were delicious! It can get really busy so be prepared to wait but it's worth the wait.
Ritual Rooftop Restaurant & Lounge
We stumbled upon this rooftop lounge our first night as we were wandering and headed up. It was such a cool space and I would recommend swinging by at night for a drink or grabbing dinner in the restaurant!
Stay
When coming to Charleston I knew I wanted to stay either somewhere very central or on the beach. Since we went in mid-October we decided to stay in the city and just Uber out to the beach for a day which ended up working perfectly for us! The place we stayed in Charleston was the Dewberry. This hotel was gorgeous! Located in the main square everything was an easy walk to get to and the Citrus Club on the rooftop offered a breathtaking view of the city! I happened upon an amazing deal for this hotel when our original hotel canceled on us, so if you do want to stay here, I would recommend taking a look at prices closer to the date you’re going if at all possible.
To Do
Go to Cypress Gardens
One thing about Charleston I wanted to experience was the swamps and especially the location for the notebook filming. Cypress Gardens is that spot, it was such a cool experience, but it is about an hour outside of the main area so if you are down for the trek go for it! The cypress gardens allow you to walk around the area or take a paddleboat tour of the swamp. This was so fun and we each took turns paddling through the lily pads and saw the occasional baby crocodile.
King Street
This street had so many cute shops and restaurants to explore! We found so many classic dress shops and there is a love shack fancy! I would recommend just strolling down the street and popping into the stores that catch your eye cause there are lots!
Folly Beach
We went to Folly Beach for our day trip and it was so nice! A very well-maintained beach and lots of beach to walk on!
I hope these recommendations inspire you for your next trip! And that your time in Charleston is as fun as mine was!
